A Modest Proposal

While House Republicans are busy trying to blame the failure of the Bail Out Henry Paulson's BFFs Bill on Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Liberals, Bill Clinton's wiener, and everybody but themselves…

… why not call some congressional committees and suggest that it's time for joint congressional hearings into the underlying causes of the current mess and a way out – but this time, with real economists instead of Loyal Bushies vested in the Culture of Wall-Meets-K Street Corruption?

It wouldn't hurt to name a few actual economists' names (Nouriel Roubini, Paul Krugman and Joseph Stiglitz come to mind).

So fire up those phone lines and give 'em a call. Two places to start:

Senate Committee on Banking
534 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
(202) 224-7391

House Financial Services Committee
Democratic Staff
2129 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC 20515
(202) 225-4247
