… have nationalized industries, banks and insurance companies that were profitable — meaning that taxpayers and citizens at large could benefit. On the contrary, the only institutions the U.S. government is interested in nationalizing are the bankrupt ones — the ones with huge losses. In the U.S. it's a one way street. If you are a profitable institution, your profits will go to individuals — mainly to wealthy individuals. On the other hand, if your unprofitable, your loses will be absorbed by the citizenry at large. For the wealthy and well connected, it's a beautiful thing.
