On Coulter: Will Someone Throw Ann Under the Bus?

Jeff Koopersmith on black-cocktail-dress-wearing fabulist Ann Coulter, writing to a large group of Americans who appreciate, applaud, and believe her lies. She is dangerous in this regard, as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan.

March 20, 2008 – Lugano (apj.us) – In Ann Coulter’s latest cesspool of mendacity she claims that Senator Obama's pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is “a raving racist loon.”

She does “not believe 'the legacy of slavery' gives black people the right to be permanently ill-mannered.”

She compares Obama’s speech as “accurately describ[ing] the libretto of Porgy and Bess.”

She twists the law and says that after the Bakke decision in 1978, “[i]t has been legal for the government to discriminate against whites on the basis of their race.”

She adds that “during Rev. Wright's 66 years, discrimination against blacks was legal” — though “he never experienced it personally because it existed in a part of the country where he did not live.”

She ends her own racist tirade, writing “Obama hinted that we might have one way out: If we elect him president, then maybe, just maybe, we can stop talking about race.”

In essence, she is claiming here that Obama is playing the race card, threatening that he won’t stop doing it until we elect him president. I can think of others who have done the same – some righteously, and some, posing as conservatives, who decided to do so while praying on their knees in a toilet near a Senate hearing room.

This is not what Obama has done.

What leaves one's mouth hanging open is that Coulter is writing to a large group of Americans who appreciate, applaud, and believe her lies. She is dangerous in this regard, as dangerous as the Ku Klux Klan.

In fact, Rev, Wright, although outspoken, has only come up with a questionable statement regarding AIDS. He believes, for whatever reason, that the United States military and its biological contractors formulated the HIV virus or a basis for AIDS during our own biological weapons development programs. He believes these types of weapons are aimed at large non-White populations, including African people. Whether this is frenzied or not, the point of Rev. Wright’s remarks which were not met with boos by Black Americans – because Black Americans feel so apprehensive, even in modern day America, that they might believe such a thing. That is saddest and most salient conclusion of the many one might make of his AIDS statements.

For the record what Wright actually said is, “We started the AIDS virus [and t]he government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied.”

The “we” means “we Americans.”

And while this information might be fallacious, not even Wright can top the mythical, misleading and deceptive statements that Coulter's Neocon heroes told the world when making their case for war against Iraq.

I, on the other hand, fault Obama for turning his back on his mentor and friend Rev. Wright.

For twenty years the Senator did not openly criticize him, and must have agreed with most of what he said – as I do today.

Coulter “thinks” (read: is peddling the false assertion) that America’s attempt to rid herself of what is called “institutional” racism means that bigotry aimed at Blacks and Hispanics has simply disappeared altogether.

While it is true that our Supreme Court attempted to level the playing field and rid government of racist goings-on, this did little or nothing to stop what I call “racism in fact” – that Blacks are res ipsa loquitur discriminated against today just as they were yesterday.

My God, just take a tour of too many Black neighborhoods – and I don’t mean the urban tenements and “projects” exclusively. (One way to do this is to take the AMTRAK train from New York to Miami. All you need do is look out the window and see the millions who live on the wrong side of American society’s tracks.)

If you believe that racism is not an issue in modern American culture, you are, my friend, a moron.

If you believe that White Americans are discriminated against because a few Blacks get into great universities with lower test scores than upper middle class Whites only because they are Black, you are a moron.

If you believe that Black people do not deserve, after several hundred years of enslavement, to be angry, then you are a moron.

If you believe that the current conditions in America’s ghettos, let alone the tragedy of their forebearers, do not permit Black Americans to be “ill mannered,” which means “disrespecting” de facto bigots like Ann Coulter with the open contempt she and all her ilk deserve from people of all races, then you are a moron.

If you believe that there was , when Rev Wright was growing up, any place in America that did not have acutely defined or semi-hidden racist mindset as does Ms. Coulter, then you are a moron.

If you believe, as does Ms. Coulter that people, Blacks, Whites, or a members of the clergy should not be permitted to call the Secretary State Rice "Condoskeezza Rice,” then you must believe that this woman who has almost single-handedly destroyed the reputation of American diplomacy is above a little teasing.

I have called her worse, and I was not accused of being a racist. I believe Secretary Rice is a willing accomplice to mass murder.

You are a moron if you cannot understand and empathize with Black leaders like Rev. Wright who witness the terrible human fallout of bigotry all day, every day and finally state, "No, no, no, God damn America — that's in the Bible for killing innocent people! God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human! God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme!"

The tragedy is not that Wright said this, but that we force him and others to say things like it.

In truth, America throughout its long history has killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people, including many of her own. America has and continues to treat some human beings here and abroad as less than human, and certainly few would argue that some of us think America is supreme.

If you believe that you “have had your fill” discussing the problems of racism, then you are a self-serving, self-involved putz.

Ann Coulter believes that Senator Obama used his grandmother as a “White racist counterpart” to his Black racist “old uncle.” Rev. Wright when he illustrated the deep seated fear that has remained and yet remains between the races – not only in America but throughout the world.

What a contemptible claim she makes there – that Obama threw his grandmother under the bus simply to make a political gain.

Ms. Coulter is a disgrace, plain and simple.
